Crimes against Iconography...Black Lab Icon
Had to say goodbye to my 11 year old Black Labrador, Max on Friday after they found
a bone tumour in his shoulder.

Cannot believe he is gone, he had a bit of a reputation as a comeback kid, having kicked three or four health issues into touch or living with them superbly, including Addisons disease since he was 2.

Bereft.

Been here long enough to know the usual WHO rules apply, so have at it.*

* Well gank, since you ask he had his own C&B neckerchief, would watch matches with me and wore a West Ham scarf and antlers for our personalised Christmas card picture, that's what.

A friend of mine's dog went "missing". A couple of days later, he received a phone call, from a member of the local honest romany folk community, saying the dog had been "found" and would require a £1,000 "reward" to secure its safe return. Police not interested.

Manged to negotiate it down to £500.

Re: Crimes against Iconography...Black Lab Icon
Thank you all for your kind words and advice, you were a big help with lockdown restricting my opportunities to talk about it away from the house if you know what I mean.

I have taken comfort from collating the mass of photos and videos and remembering the holidays, countless walks and good times.

Moving the beds, leads, collars, toys and bed s, medicines(Of which we had nearly £400 worth), food and treats have been done gradually over time and either retained in the attic, given to charities or in the case of the specialist medicines given to someone whose dog has the same condition in exchange for a donation to the dogs trust.

I have replaced long walks with cycling out, found it difficult to walk 'our routes'.

Mrs Moncs still has bouts of uncontrollable tears but these occur a lot less often now and she has plans for the ashes including having some jewellery made.

When the time is right I will be broaching the subject of a rescue and making formal contact with Wood Green but Mrs M wants to live with his memory at the moment so that's not appropriate.

MPI - my sympathies, my muts are 9 and 6, seems only yesterday the nine year old was that little pup who stole my heart on first sight
As most on here, you reach a certain stage in life when you have seen a bit, been through a bit and yet I know nothing will be enough preparation for when the time comes
Genuinely feel for you mate .....

That retired copper and his dog Ted live near me. Shocking.

There's posters of ted in and around all the local parks and have been for weeks.

The family have done really well in getting as much exposure as possible, but still no sign of poor Ted.

Be careful hound owners.... hearing more and more of this happening... even to the extent that gangs who dealt with drugs are giving up that as this is more profitable.

Re: Crimes against Iconography...Black Lab Icon
Sorry to hear this ,a dogs life is never long enough . My black lab is five in April looks like arthritis is in his left fore as has a limp ,it doesn’t stop him enjoying a good walk and flushing birds in the sticks ,I can have him out for a couple of hours as we walk back to the car he lies down coz he’d rather stay out . I’d be bored shitless without him, a retirement present to myself . Had him since sixteen months old ,on average we are apart two hours a week , always comes on Holliday with us .
Chin up chap, it’s very hard . Don’t be sad his life has ended . Be happy that it happened .

Just rips your heart out when a pet dies. My condolences MPI.

One of the very few pluses of Covid, is no pet being left on their own, while their owners travel and having company all day, when their owners work from home.

Our cat decided when he wants some attention, by jumping up and standing on my key board. His brother had to be euthanised 5 years ago, still miss him.

Second,

I was ready for either and welcomed all, it's just WHO innit.

That said some lovely responses on here, kept me from being maudlin.

So sorry to hear this - as the owner of a 10 year old black lab I can guess how horrible it is. I think I'd be straight back in the game and get another one asap.

What a selfish cunt. You're gonna to have to try to lick your own balls now. Inconvenient.
